Woodtick Recreation Area (same location as last year)

211 Nichols Road, Wolcott, Connecticut

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
BARBEQUE PICNIC and POT LUCK

The picnic will be held at the pavilion from about 12:00 to 5:00.  The combined clubs will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, rolls, paper plates, cups, utensils, condiments, and soft drinks.  The pavilion has 14 large picnic tables, which are under the pavilion, a large paved parking area, restrooms, charcoal grills, running water, 2-3 refrigerators and power outlets all over the place (in cooking area and on posts near the tables and lighting). They provide a volley ball court (bring your own ball), 3 sets of horse shoes for the 3 pits, and bocce balls/court, plus there is a large field if we wanted to play baseball or for the kids to run around. There is a stream along side that can be fished and a swimming beach directly across the road (low admission fee per person) with a snack bar and basketball courts.

YOUR ADMISSION FEE is to bring a side dish to share, such as an appetizer, casserole, salad (pasta, veggies, potato, etc.), dessert, or whatever you think is yummy!

DOOR PRIZES FOR KIDS & ADULTS

MINERAL / GEM SALE & SWAP or DISPLAYS

Bring your surplus minerals and/or lapidary treasures to participate in the sale or swap.  Or just bring your favorites to show off!   You MUST bring your own table for the sale/swap—we need the picnic tables for the PICNIC.

ROCK SPLITTING
Got extra matrix you want to get rid of?  If so, bring your specimens along because a rock splitter will be available for use.  The splitter can accommodate specimens up to about 4 inches thick.

RSVP BY JULY 23

Family and friends are welcome

It is very important that you reply on time (July 23), so that we have an accurate head count to purchase an appropriate amount of supplies and food.  Include your name and how many will be attending. PLEASE REPLY TO YOUR CLUB CONTACT PERSON:

Contact Person for  NHMC: president@newhavenmineralclub.org

There will be fun things to do for everyone, good food, a chance to be with friends, and make new ones; enhance your collection and learn from fellow hobbyists. So help make the 13th Annual Rockhound Fest a success.  Your clubs have worked hard on this, please come out and support your clubs.  Hope to see you there!!

Mineral Swap/Sale – The swap/sale is open to everyone, including club members who are dealers. There is no fee to sell and the only limiting factor is that each person selling should bring their own tables (and cover if the weather is bad). Most of the parking is about 150 feet from the sale area and there is very limited parking at the spot where the sale is.

DIRECTIONS:
Because we have so many clubs involved and folks coming from all over the Northeast, it would be best to go to www.mapquest.com and enter the destination as "211 Nichols Rd, Wolcott, CT 06716." This will give you the location and a map, and you can get specific directions from your home. In general terms, Woodtick Recreation Area is located in the southern part of Wolcott, in central Connecticut. The turn onto Nichols Rd. is about a mile south of the intersection of Routes 69 and 322. From Rt. 69, turn onto Nichols Rd (heading east-southeast). Go 0.7 miles. The pavilion and parking will be on your right.
